His father is a preacher and doesn’t make enough to support his family. Yet still he sees his work in the Kingdom as his most important duty. Ganta’s mother is bedridden with severe abdominal complications. Ganta’s favorite Bible story is “The Good Samaritan” (Luke 10:30-37). He might be the funniest of the kids at the orphanage. Despite his family’s broken home, Jampana loves life. His father ran off with another woman leaving his mother with two children to raise and a job that hardly satisfies the demand. Jampana’s favorite Bible story is “Marriage of the King’s Son” (Luke 10:30-37). Indian society considers Jampana to be untouchable.

At a very young age Koppula was forced to grow up. Due to a family without the financial stability to survive, Koppula was held out of school and instead was sent to work. The income earned was used to help his parents and two siblings survive. When he came to ODMH he was finally able to begin school and stop worrying so much about supporting his family. Finally, he was able to be a kid! He learned how to play cricket and discovered that he had a natural talent in math. In fact, now he would one day like to become an engineer! He likes to go by the name Emmanuel. Koppula’s favorite Bible story is “The Full Net” (Matthew 13:47-48). Indian society considers Koppula to be untouchable.

Inti Bhanu is a young boy of ten years. He comes from a family with many issues. His father was an alcoholic that left the family and never returned. His whereabouts is unknown. As a result, his mother was forced to find work and has gone to Kuwait in hopes of securing meaningful employment. Before arriving at the orphanage, he and his four siblings where struggling to survive under his grandmother’s support. Inti Bhanu loves to play football (soccer) and has dreams of becoming a lawyer one day. Inti Bhanu’s favorite Bible story is “The Father and Two Sons” (Matthew 21:28-32). He is a kid that is often compelled to do good acts for others without being prompted – a kid that came from nothing, but will willing give all he has. Thalakayala is a very quiet boy of eleven years. He is a boy of considerable thought. He is very conscientious. At first, when he arrived at ODMH he was homesick for his native village. However, when he settled in with his new environment, he quickly made friends and realized that he had more love than he had ever experienced before. Thalakayala’s father died from an alcohol addiction. His mother is a farm laborer and barely makes enough money to feed herself. Thalakayala loves math and wants to be an engineer one day. He can sometimes be seen playing the drum during church services. Thalakayala’s favorite Bible story is “Vine and the Branches” (John 13:1-27). Instead, they spend each day working as house servants for tips in order to try to support the family. Kapuvarapu is the eldest of two children. He enjoys playing cricket. He thinks that science is fun. Like a couple of his buddies at the orphanage, he plans to try his hand at being a lecturer when he grows up. Recently bitten by a dog, he is quickly recovering from his injury. He is a boy with a million dollar smile that will brighten anyone’s day. He may have never had a relationship with his biological father, but thanks to the grace of God, he has been given an opportunity to develop a relationship with his heavenly Father. After remarrying, his father avoided him and devoted his attention to his new wife and new child. As a result, Pandula suffered from neglect and malnourishment. He plays shuttle with the other kids. He is very good at math and has set his goals high with ambitions of being an engineer. He is a very affectionate boy that thrives on kind words. He loves chocolate! Pandula’s favorite Bible story is “Stopping of the River Jordan” (Joshua 3:14-17). Indian society considers Pandula to be untouchable.

He loves to play badminton, despite his small size. He enjoys social studies and loves to hear tales about other countries and legends. He loves to sing and is usually one of the most vocal at church services. Bondada’s favorite Bible story is “The Sheep and the Goats” (Matthew 25:31-46). Sandeep is very new to the orphanage. He was brought to ODMH on September 22nd after some unfortunate incidents left he and his sister alone. Sandeep’s father was a drunkard and committed a murder for which he was consequentially imprisoned. Sandeep’s mother, confident that the father would not return, decided to abandon the children by leaving them with their grandfather and not returning. The grandfather, unable or unwilling to support the children determined that life at the orphanage would be much better for both of the siblings. Sandeep is a sweet, quiet seven year old boy. Indian society considers Sandeep to be untouchable.

Chandu Pandula is one of the youngest children at Open Door Mercy Home. He is a sweet boy that is very alert. His misfortune started when his mother left his father for another man. Not long after, his father found another woman and decided to start a new life with her. He left Chandu with his grandmother and never returned. Due to financial burden and inability to support Chandu, he was brought to the orphanage by his grandmother. Chandu’s favorite game is kabaddi. He enjoys learning English. He loves the Bible story of David and Goliath. Indian society considers Chandu to be untouchable.
